John and Michael Fields on Coors Mountain 1981
(John on the right...Isn't he handsome!)

I am such a lucky duck to have John in my life! He has been a great influence and strength to me. John was born on February 27, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. No --He did not know Davy Crockett personally, although he has met his great-grandson! John is a Tech lead at BMC Computer Software Company. He really likes it there. He has been there for 3 years and at EDS in Plano before that. John has always had a love for learning how to program. I will never forget the first computer I got him while we were still newlyweds in Alice Springs and he was a Seismic Analyst in the Air Force. It was a little TI-95. He was so excited. He named it "Fluffy"! John is somewhat of a linguist and he treats computer languages as he does any other kind of language. He learns it and uses it.

He is also mastering the language of music! He was learning a little on the piano and now he has picked up Danny's little guitar and is picking out melodies--any melodies on it. He has figured out how to find all of the notes on it and off he goes. Now if I could just get him to turn the page and learn all of the really cool stuff about playing the guitar! Still working on getting his courage up to sing in public. He is a little nervous still. However it sounds great when he is singing in the shower.
John is quite a kidder, and he teases the children mercilessly. Somehow, they have all survived and pretty much voted him favorite parent of the year for about the zillionth time. That is okay by me, I keep voting him for favorite husband of the year also! Needless to say, he is a pretty popular fellow around here! He has taught Mike just about everything that he knows about wrestling. Now Mike is as strong as John and giving him a run for his money!

He has taught Mike chess and now Mike has taught Luke. Yes, John is pretty cool! John also runs every day with his best friend Ken

At church, John is in the Sunday School Presidency and he teaches Elder's Quorum once a month. He is also a Home Teacher. It has been really good for him.
For a while he was into telling the kids crazy, scary stories that were pretty outrageous. Now Mike and Luke are writing. I know that John helped to encourage their creativity and imagination. John loves to read books. He also writes very well and is great at writing poetry!
